Customer Review
'I love it out the back, you are immediately transported to the Mediterranean with the tiled floor, terracotta colours and a gorgeous mural covering one of the walls.'

Spice Route A World of Food
An Aromatic quest from east to west
Arabian traders did invest
Gold and Silver they craved
Henceforth the Silk and Spice trades
At ports and posts
In the amber glow of burning fire that roasts
Is found a man in robes and riches
Serving delicious dishes
Aching from his journeys he narrates
Enchanted tales of bravery he creates
To feed to the west
Before he takes his rest
Aromas, and exotic flavours
the westerners devour
To fill their bellies and minds
With intent to find
The source of their desires...
The Spice Route
Poem by the Muralist- Penelope Rose Cowley 2006
Inspired by the research into the Spice Trade and it's history from Marco Polo, the Banda Islands, Cloves, Nutmeg all the spices, the Dutch, Spanish, British fleets of boats and the endurance of endless caravans of Camels and their precious loads and the ancient traders of the past awakening our tastes to all the far corners of the world with stories of sea monsters and dragons, to add extra spice to their valuable cargo.
